The book "Factory of the Future": This book was released in December 2000, with contributions of professors and researchers of NUMA based on, their experiences in researches and work with other companies. This book is about tendencies which on their turn become reality and competitivety factor in discreet manufacturing companies. Some general concepts of this book may be applied in other types of companies, besides the manufacturing ones. A previous presentation of the contents of the book was done at the Annual congress of NUMA, which occurred last October.

NUMA wins the SAP award: NUMA presented the project called "Integrated Production and Supply Chain Management" at the SAPTM University Alliance Grant Award Program. Competing with more than 50 American, Canadian and Latin America Universities, it won the "Research and Application" category and received the prize of US$100.000,00. The proposal was based on a project to develop a Production Cockpit using the SAP R/3 systems for Supply Chain, mainly the APO, BIW, LIS modules. This Production Cockpit will be used in demonstrations and educational purposes creating a synergic environment, where it is possible to test and validate several research projects, which have been accomplished by the groups of NUMA. This unique award in Latin America corroborated the quality of the researches developed at this Nucleus, with the Leaders for Enterprise Integration Program (R/3 system) and supported by Deloitte Consulting and SAP in Supply Chain Management (APO).
